Sweet Glazed Turnips & Radishes
This unlikely pair of turnips and radishes are both low in protein and serve as a great side dish to any meal.

Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp margarine
- 1 large shallot (40 g), sliced
- 1 lb (454 g) radishes, about 18 large radishes
- 1 lb (454 g) turnips, about 7 small turnips, halved
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup (120 mL) vegetable broth*
- 1 Tbsp honey
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions
- In a 12-inch skillet, heat the margarine over medium-high heat.
- Add sliced shallot and cook for 2 minutes, or until golden and tender, stirring occasionally.
- Add radishes and turnips, stirring until well coated.
- Add the water, vegetable broth, honey, and season liberally with salt and pepper.
- Heat to boiling, then reduce the heat to medium-low.
- Cover and let simmer for 15 minutes.
- Uncover and cook for an additional 7-10 minutes or until the vegetables are glazed and most of the liquid has evaporated, stirring occasionally.
